So I bought a Google Nexus 7 the instant it came out, and it is jolly good too.
But the Bluetooth keyboard I bought with it had a British PC key layout, with the quotes on the 2 key and the @ on the ' key, among several other differences. I can live with most of them, but having to press the 'wrong' key every time I type an email address is beyond irritating. Why can't Android support that layout? It supports bloody Dvorak which is used by three bearded, sandal-wearing loonies in Bideford, so why not a proper layout?
The Apple Bluetooth keyboard works perfectly, but it is a bit big for toting around and anyway I also wanted a protective case for the Nexus - clearly, a case with a built-in keyboard was the way to go. Google had leaked details of just such a case, but it showed no sign of arriving any day soon so I went onto Amazon and bought this. No Bluetooth, but the right sort of connector was provided and the keys seemed to be the right way round, so for a tenner what can go wrong?
I was very impressed by the delivery. I am far too mean to pay, so I expected it to appear sometime in the new year. Actually. I ordered it late on Friday and it turned up on Monday with the post - top marks, Royal Mail!
The keys work, all in the right place, so far so good.
But there is no £ sign! Fnack fnack fnack!
Can I remap the keyboard or use one of the function keys or something? The keyboard is identified in the Settings as a CSW USB Keyboard - anyone know what that is?
I suppose I can live without a £ key. And it was only a tenner. But, as I always say, there is always fucking something.
